Spike Lee’s “When the Levees Broke”

When the Levees Broke

Listened to an amazing BBC podcast interview with Spike Lee while doing the dishes this morning (aftermath of a dinner party that ended in the wee hours of the morn…). He just premiered a four-hour documentary about the flooding in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

Most juicy anecdote: Lee accuses the US government of deliberately blowing up the levees near poor (read black) areas of the city in order to spare wealthier hoods. Wow. Can’t wait to see it. Why can’t we get HBO in Canada, dammit?
